Our Lutheran Elementary School
 St. Peter's Lutheran School

St. Peter's Lutheran School exists to assist parents in educating and training their children as disciples of Christ for this life and in the life to come. The congregation of St. Peter's is dedicated to teaching students the skills, knowledge, and the attitudes necessary to do works of service in the church, the community, and in the entire world. This mission is carried out with the conviction that God's Word is our only source of faith and our guide.

St. Peter's Lutheran School offers a complete academic program for grades 3K-8, with all subjects being taught in light of God's Word. We're proud to offer computer classes from K-8 in our state-of-the-art computer lab. We also integrate technology into lessons daily with SMART interactive whiteboards in every classroom.

Free busing is available to students living in the Mishicot school district. Tuition assistance is also available through a confidential application process.

 Mr. Joshua Wendt

Principal
Religion, Language Arts, Reading

My name is Joshua Wendt, and it is my joy and privilege to serve the families of St. Peter's.  It is my hope that the children grow spiritually as well as academically while they are in my classroom. "Although I am less than the least of all God's people, this grace was given me: to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ." (Ephesians 3:8)

I attended a Lutheran elementary school in Oconomowoc, WI. I moved on to Luther Preparatory School in Watertown for high school to begin my training for the teaching ministry. In 2006 I graduated from Martin Luther College (New Ulm, MN) with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. The following year I taught grades 5-8 at St. Paul Lutheran School in Riverside, CA. I also served as the music director for that congregation. In 2007 I accepted my present call to St. Peter's.

I hold a Minnesota state teaching license and an initial Wisconsin state teaching license. I am also a member of the International Reading Association (IRA) and the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS).

I live in Manitowoc with my dog, Cali. I serve as one of the directors of the Lakeshore Lutheran Chorale in Manitowoc and sing with Canticum Novum: a WELS chamber choir. I also teach organ and voice lessons at Manitowoc Lutheran High School.

Mrs. Karilynn Barthels

Grades K-1
Athletic Director

Mrs. Barthels is the daughter of a pastor/professor, and is proud to mention the 20 pastors and teachers in her immediate family.

Mrs. Barthels graduated from Dr. Martin Luther College in 1980, and she is in her 23rd year of teaching. She has taught grades K-4 in various combinations over the years. She has taught in Valentine (Nebraska), Lake Geneva, Manitowoc, and Mishicot (Wisconsin). She also spent some time teaching in the inner city of Milwaukee. Mrs. Barthels teaches grades K-1 in the morning, and teaches piano lessons in school most afternoons.

Mrs. Barthels loves children, music, a good book, and watching children learn. Her husband, Robert, supports her teaching with encouragement and an occasional helping hand (to reach things that are too high). The Barthels have 3 children: Rachel, 16, is a junior at Manitowoc Lutheran High School. Julia, 14, is a freshman at MLHS. Jonathan, 12, is in 7th grade at St. Peter's.

Mrs. Margaret Wentker

Mrs. Wentker received her Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from Dr. Martin Luther College in 1982. She began her present position in 2000.

Mrs. Wentker and her husband, Kenneth, have three daughters. Louise is in the hotel and restuarant management program at Lakeshore Technical College. Mrs. Destinee Fiecko

Math, Science, Social Studies
Music Director

My name is Destinee (Jaeger) Fiecko, and it is my honor to serve the members and families of St. Peter. I grew up not far from here, on my parents’ farm in rural Two Rivers. It’s so close to here in fact, that St. Peter has been my home congregation most of my life. I attended St. Peter's Lutheran School (formerly East Twin) Kindergarten through Eighth grade, and graduated with the class of 2000. From there I attended Manitowoc Lutheran High School where I was mentally, physically and spiritually nurtured through the loving hands of my teachers. After my graduation in 2004, I began my training at Martin Luther College and was enriched and challenged by my student teaching assignments at LaFayette Charter School (LaFayette, MN) and St. Lucas Lutheran School (Kewaskum, WI). In May of 2008 I graduated from MLC with a Bachelor of Science in Education and an emphasis in Social Studies.

I hold a Minnesota state teaching license and an initial Wisconsin state teaching license, and am a member of the International Reading Association (IRA) as well as the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA). Since it is my goal to learn alongside my students, I plan to continue my education through a Masters Degree program from MLC in the near future.

I live with my husband Bryan, two cats - Rizzo and Penelope, and our new puppy - Bella, in Francis Creek. All four keep me busy and entertained. Bryan works for Erie Construction as a Sales Executive specializing in energy efficient roofing, and enjoys golfing, fixing cars, drinking coffee and riding his motorcycle. When I’m not busy in the classroom you can find me at a coffee shop, playing piano or playing organ at church.

Mrs. Hannah Mueller

Tiny Treasures 3K/4K
Early Childhood Director

My father is a pastor, and his ministry has taken us all over the country. I was born in Bismark, ND while my dad served a congregation in Hazelton. Shortly after I was born we moved to Kekoskee, WI, then Gillette, WY, Yuma, AZ, and finally West Chicago, IL.

I attended public school until I was ready to start high school. I then attended Luther Preparatory School in Watertown, WI. After I graduated in 2004, I attended Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN. While at MLC I double majored in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education. I student taught grades 1-2 at First German Lutheran School in Manitowoc. In May of 2009 I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree and a MN state teaching license.

My husband Joseph and I were married in June 2009 and moved to Two Rivers. I look forward to serving this congregation and teaching Jesus' little lambs.

St. Peter's Music Program

The Lutheran church has a rich musical history, and we hope to continue that tradition with the students at St. Peter's. We also recognize the educational benefits to a fine arts education. Our students have opportunities to develop their God-given musical abilities in the following ways:

  • Junior Choir (Grades 3-8), directed by Mrs. Fiecko
  • Handchimes (Grades 3-8), directed by Mrs. Fiecko
  • Recorders (Grades 3-8), directed by Mr. Wendt
  • Private Piano Lessons with Mrs. Barthels
  • Band Lessons on site
  • Music in drama productions

Our students also attend the Bethany Music Festival in Manitowoc every spring where they perform before judges who evalute their work. Our students took home many first place ribbons in 2008, and our upper grade choir earned a "good" (second place) rating.
